Martin Bailey’s Toronto Pixels 2 Pigment workshop was easily the most productive educational experience I’ve enjoyed in the several years since I took up the hobby. His deep knowledge, incisive wit, infectious enthusiasm, brutal honesty and refreshingly original perspective on just about every facet of photography kept me riveted for all 16 hours. Most amazingly, he took my printer which had, over the last 4 years, churned out prints which varied in quality from downright insipid to completely horrid and helped transform it, in one fascinating afternoon, into a machine which now consistently output prints and canvases which simply take my breath away.

I just wanted to thank you for the excellent Pixels 2 Pigments Workshop you led in Toronto this week. It really opened my eyes to the world of fine art printing as a critical part of one’s photography. The workshop was a lot of fun. It was well organized, clearly presented with good practical exercises and with a nice group of participants. It was wonderful to meet you after so many years of listening to your informative podcasts and our exchanging of helpful e-mails. I learned a great deal from the workshop and look forward to joining you on more of them in the coming years. And my wife was absolutely delighted with the beautiful canvas wrap you helped me create!

The San Francisco Pixels 2 Pigment course was outstanding. Over the years I have struggled with printing. You conveyed a solid foundation of practical techniques which I can now apply to my printing. Your passion of the craft of printing and attention to detail was inspirational to me.

Thank you so much for an amazing weekend at Pixels 2 Pigment in San Francisco! My expectations were high coming in, but I must say that the event surpassed them. Thank you for explaining the benefits of exposing to the right of the histogram. While I’d read several opinions on the subject, for some reason it didn’t really sink in until your explanation.
Seeing my print on canvas magnified the importance of getting light to all those pixels. I suspect it’s going to make a real impact on my work going forward. Being able to complete a gallery wrap under your tutelage was amazing. I am delighted with the results and this has given life to a dimension of my work that I hadn’t realized was missing. What a thrill! It was wonderful to meet you. You are a master teacher and I am so glad to have had the chance to study with you in person. I hope to do so again in the future.

I attended Martin Bailey's Pixel 2 Pigment workshop here in Okinawa. Martin has a hands on teaching style and expertly presents his extensive knowledge of not only printing, but workflow management and storage. Of course, the color management and printing are the key factors in this workshop and he was able to methodically take everyone through what many people consider a complicated and fearful subject (at least I thought so) and break it down into easy steps. I would jump at the chance to take another workshop presented by Martin Bailey.

Before attending Pixels 2 Pigment I fully expected to walk away from the workshop a better printer. But, I didn't realize that to be a great printer you have to start by creating quality pixels in-camera. You also need a good workflow to organize and edit your work before the print is made. After good pixels are created and managed the printing begins! Martin covered a wide range of techniques and I walked out of the workshop a better photographer. It was money well spent.
If you are debating buying new gear or attending Pixels 2 Pigment you will get more results from P2P!

Before attending the Pixel 2 Pigment course I had absolutely no knowledge on color management. Martin's wealth of knowledge provided me a whole new world in color management. Thanks to Martin I now use my X-Rite ColorChecker Passport to ensure I am getting the most vibrant and correct colors from each of my shots. I now feel more confident in the Digital Darkroomand my editing and printing.
I only have had the pleasure of attending a few workshops in my career, but the Pixel 2 Pigment workshop is a must for anybody that wants to learn Color Management.

I would like to say that this was the most enjoyable and informative class I have ever been to for photography. Martin was great! I learned so much to the point it makes me eager to do more of my own printing a lot more even if it's just for myself. In fact, I learned more about my printer's capabilities that allows me to print to more media than I thought I could do. Highly recommended for those who would like to step up their knowledge in photography. Personal printing has become one of the skills many look over.
This course will help anyone understand the great importance of printing, helpful workflows on how to get the best out of your work, and possibly sell them if you desire to go that route. Breathing color's sample book was also available. The paper is stunning! I think the samples alone has convinced me to go away from Canon paper to Breathing Color's media, which seems to be much better for fine art. Anyone looking to learn how to do canvas printing and mounting will also greatly benefit from taking this course. Thank you Martin for making this course a blast.

Having attended Martin's Hokkaido workshop a few years ago, I was looking forward to the Pixels2Pigemens workshop, and as expected Martin delivered a class act once again! If you interested in colour management, printing or understanding the digital workflow in Lightroom, then this course will definitely improve your knowledge. Having recently moved from Aperture to Lightroom, the digital workflow part of the course really helped me understand how to create a seamless workflow.
